Cancer Awareness Workshop

New Jerusalem Gospel Church, in partnership with Sheffield City Council (Park and Arbourthorne Ward), and African Caribbean Cancer Support (ACCS: https://accancersupport.org.uk/), organised a one-day workshop with women members of the church. 35 women members of the church and from communities around participated in the workshop.

The workshop intends to raise awareness of the different forms of cancer and how they affect black women in the United Kingdom. It also analysed cultural and informational challenges and possible ways to diagnose cancer symptoms and learn from women participants.

The workshop stood as an opportunity to learn from participants about what can be done to increase awareness schemes among Black women in Sheffield and within communities. During the workshop breast and cervical cancers were touched upon as they tend to affect wpmen.
